..to the website of the Horwich Churches & Welfare Cricket Association, one of the oldest surviving leagues of it's type in Lancashire and possibly the country as a whole. (The Blackburn Amateur League was originally a Churches league and formed in 1895, the Greater Manchester League started as the Swinton Churches League in 1896, and the Bradford Mutual Sunday League founded in 1896 are all still in existence, and it would be interesting to know of any more).
The league was originally formed in 1922, and apart from a short spell when it was suspended during the Second World War, has provided cricket for the people of Horwich and the surrounding areas ever since.
